The Lemon Tree Project photos are shown in their entirety -- with a new video installation, "Every Lemon on the Tree," in Time(Lapse), at Jasmine Moorhead's new photo/video gallery Krowswork in Oakland, CA. The four person show Time(Lapse) deals with temporality, transcience, and image degradation over time. With SF interactive video collective Drone Dungeon, Amsterdam photographer Katja Majer, and filmmaker Kim Miskowicz.The San Francisco Chronicle says "Don't Miss" Time(Lapse). Oakbook speaks of "the harsh, fragile, raw, beauty of decay..." in the Lemon Tree Project photos.

I made lemonade for the many visitors the Mar. 20 opening (photos) and at Oakland Art Murmur on April 2.

I spoke on Food as Art as Sustainability Activism: The Politics of Agriculture and Food Systems in 21st Century Art Practices in the session Artist Citizen: Catalysts, Collectives, Utopias. The session was organized by Amy M. Mooney and Joan Giroux of Columbia College Chicago.

My fellow panel speakers were a fantastic line up: Ryan Alexiev and Jessica Ingram of Cause Collective known for the video installation at Oakland Airport; Jim Duignan of Stockyard Institute in Chicago; Sheryl Oring, who created the projects Writer's Block and I Wish To Say; and curator and art historian Gillian Whiteley of Loughborough University in the UK.

My 1990s photographs from the series "Your Exposure is My Release" and an interview with me appear We Are Misfits, a book on queer art and activism in North America. published in Sweden by Standard. Authors Elin Sandstrom Lundh of the Klubb Idyll collective in Stockholm Christoph Fielder traveled across the US researching queer feminist activism. I was interviewed on June 3, 2008 in San Francisco.

Night Light: An Evening of Luminous Environments, co-curated by Liena Vayzman, featuring video installations, performances, and interdisciplinary projects on May 17 was an amazing success! Dancers from DOUBLE VISION interacted with video projected on translucent fabric, activating the space...Real-time electronic sound performances from Magnanimous and Zemi 17 headlined the Climate Theater stage... A stream of consciousness novel written on the walls and ceiling of a room...flying through digital gems...a slowly evolving reflection of video on a giant mylar panel filled the entry space.. Self and Other, Difference and Desire: The Politics of Representation
from Self-Portraiture to Photographing Homelessness

Vayzman will speak about the trajectory in her work from self-representation to representing 'others' (in terms of race, class, and gender). Focusing on three bodies of work, Vayzman will discuss issues of power relations between photographer and subject. What are the pleasures and dangers of objectifying difference, the challenges of speaking for others vs. representing oneself? Vayzman's work makes visible queer desire, racism, and economic marginality.
